Tribeca filmfest to host ‘Ballad for the White Cow’

Iranian feature ‘Ballad for the White Cow’ is slated to vie at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival (TFF) in the US.

The film, codirected by Behtash Sanaeeha and Maryam Moghaddam, has been named among 66 selected films at the 20th edition of the event.

The flick narrates the story a young woman named Mina who lives alone with her deaf child while her husband had been executed for a murder charge a year ago.

Mina tries to get her life together, take good care of her child and make both ends meet. However, her life gets more sorrowful when she finds out that her husband was innocent.

‘Ballad of a White Cow’ is a coproduction by Qolamreza Mousavi and Etienne de Ricaud.

The film features Moghaddam and Sanaeeha as well as Pouriya Rahimi-Sam in the lead roles.

Founded in 2002 with Robert De Niro among its founding members, the TFF is a distinguished film festival held in New York City’s Tribeca neighborhood drawing approximately three million people annually.

The festival showcases a variety of independent films, turning into a noteworthy hub for independent filmmakers from all genres to reach out to a broad audience.

The 2021 edition of the event will be held on June 9-20.
